FCT Exclusive: Things you must know about Hon Micah Y. Jibah

Hon. Jiba has been able to live to the creed and true meaning of his name as dictated by his actions and cultivation of an enduring love for the masses which is evidently captured in his campaign slogan of Jirgin Talakawa meaning, the masses train. Hon. Micah is a man of many dimensions. His salient traits has rejuvenated his phenomenal acceptance, popularity and the success stories he has recorded at all stages of his life. He literally “prophesised” in 1998, 2004 and 2010 that no doubt, God was elevating him politically. The prophecies were fulfilled as all the elective posts he has been privileged to contest have been greeted with monumental successes.
In view of the daunting challenges he has faced and the wide-spread pessimism expressed against his successes at the polls, Hon. Jiba’s advice to his supporters has always been to be calm, doubtless and have a firm belief in God.. This position has also earned him the pseudo-name: babu shakka, meaning, no doubt which has found its way into the FCT political lexicon. That explains Hon. Jiba’s professed conviction that with God, nothing is impossible.

Born on Friday, 6th June, 1969 to Mr. Jiba Gade and Mrs. Salama Jiba (both of blessed memory) in Damagaza village near Apo in the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Jiba has been variously described as a colossus of integration, discipline, subtle philanthropy, action and extremely honorable in the discharge of any responsibility God bestowed on him.

Hon. Micah began a tortuous journey to manhood and self-reliance by enrolling at LEA Primary School Dutse Garki between 1977 – 1982 for his First School Leaving Certificate. Between 1987-1992, he obtained the Senior Secondary School Certificate on Education (SSCE) from Government Secondary School, Tudun Wada, Abuja.

Having attained that strata, Hon. Jiba saw the need to be more latent with knowledge and secured admission with Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, for a National Diploma in Accounting obtained in 2005. In the same vein, he decided to crown his educational pursuits with another feat as he again registered for a Higher National Diploma program at the same school graduating with a Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate in Accounting, Auditing and Investigation in 2007.

Today Hon. Micah Y. Jiba is an Accountant, Auditor, Financial Investigator, consummate farmer, father, loving husband, politician and captain of the masses train popularly called in Hausa language as jirgin talakawa. In view of his exemplary performance in financial and human management, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria honored him with the highest Fellowship of the Institute. He has also proved to be a subtle and grand philanthropist whose humanitarianism are deliberately unsung.

On the political sphere, his stint of grassroot politicking has been both rewarding, interesting and phenomenal as his constituents sing praises of his quality representation as a two-time elected councilor of Garki ward and Supervisory Councilor for Works.

Hon. Micah Y. Jiba is one politician that refused to take short-cuts to reach the present pedestal he has attained. Aside from being a consummate farmer and a modest businessman, he is a community leader of inestimable proportion. However, in consonant to the popular saying that vox poppuli vox Dei meaning: The voice of the people is the voice of God, the almighty, God used the good people of Garki ward to beckon on him to represent them as a Councilor in Abuja Municipal Area Council. After series of consultations, contacts and prayers, Hon. Jiba’s gave a nod to the people’s call for his candidature by picking the People’s Democratic Party ticket which he eventually won.

He served as Supervisory Councilor for Works and Hon. Councilor representing Garki Ward between 1999-2004.In view of the strings of his track records of achievements, Hon. Jiba was again re-elected for a second term by his constituents in the April 14th, 2004 local councils elections. This period was a superlative repeat of what the electorate enjoyed during his first tenure. He is reputed to be the only elected Councilor that has served two-terms of eight (8) years against the statutory six (6).

By divine providence fuelled by hard work and dedication to the service of humanity, this workaholic has been able to be responsive to the yearnings of the electorate and has allayed their fears of inept and lame leadership. Today, this emerging political giant has been able to employ the principles of fairness, equity and balance in the siting of projects throughout the twelve electoral wards. Since his political sojourn, he has been able to effectively explore his expertise and experience to the latter in providing answers to the thirsts of the masses since 1998 to date. It is an absolute truism to stress that it has yielded lots of dividends that has stood the tide of time. His administration for example, has distributed:
N5 Million Scholarship to 300 students; printed and distributed 100,000 customized exercise books free-of-charge; sewing 2,600 yards for approximately 1,600 pairs of primary school uniforms to the less privileged; Constructed and distributed about 1,625 primary school desks to 37 primary schools; construction of 4 new primary schools and the renovation of 4-classroom blocks at Durumi II Primary School. On rural feeder roads, his administration has also constructed/and or rehabilitated a total of about 10 kilometre road network in Jikwoyi, Kagini, Zaudna, Sabon Lugbe II, Durumi I & II, Kabusa, Waru, Orozo and Lugbe relocation market.

It is also imperative to note that in the area of empowerment, Hon. Jiba’s administration has been able to donate thirty-three (33) Vikings 195 grinding machines to widows; donated 20 knap sack herbicide sprayers to peasant farmers and lots of other inter-connected gestures. The Council also undertook a total of seventeen (17) water projects and a constellation of thirty-two (32) impassable roads, rural electrification schemes. The administration has also succeeded to rid the Utako district market of shanties and wooden structures and has constructed and commissioned market extension within the market. Recently the Lugbe, Karu, Nyanya and Gbagarape markets are being upgraded to conform with contemporary standard.

Those efforts were meant to touch lives and actualize the promises he made to the people including true representation and result-driven leadership. It is therefore an emphatic truism to state that Abuja Municipal Area Council has witnessed monumental progress under the leadership of Hon. Micah Y. Jiba.
Given the proceeding scenario, it is imperative to stress that democracy in AMAC is not only alive, but, its dividends are doubtless. And now Hon. Micah is out to contest for membership in the house of representatives Amac/Bwari federal constituency still with the hope that with God all things are possible.

Jiba’s tutelage and success in the political turf is anchored on a 2-point template of Education and Empowerment through total social and infrastructural development, a course he has adopted since assumption of office on 20th May, 2010. Honour they say, sits well on the deserving. That Jiba is honorable and deserves heroic accolades, is never an understatement in view of the myriad developmental strides the liber has bequeathed for posterity. At different stages of his stewardship to humanity, he has proved to be a blessing to the people he has served. He has indeed, proven to be a man of the high and the lowly, the elite and the masses which aptly qualifies him the captainship of the masses’ train.

He is happily married to Mrs. Christiana Jiba. The marriage is blessed with four children: Suzan Jiba (18); Franca Jiba (16); Bartholomew ( alias Ojukwu) Jiba (12); and Adazayi Jiba (5). He holds the traditional titles of Dan-iyan Garki and Bezhe of Waru both in Abuja Municipal Area Council.
